Maver Image Plan For Success

Maver Image team Captain, Steve Clark, is already looking ahead to this year's big events after the team achieved a number of accolades in 2011.
Last year, Steve and his men secured top ten finishes in both the Angling Trust Division One National Championships and the World Club Fish Off and won the Angling Trust Eastern Region Shield.
Individual success also saw Gary Miller win Match Fishing's Drennan Knockout Cup beating Preston's Lee Kerry in the final at Docklow pools.
However, despite their success, Steve is making changes to last years squad.

Hughes On A Charge

Former Kamasan Matchman Of The Year, Jamie Hughes (Maver Bag 'Em Baits), is making a late and determined charge in the Kamasan table.
Jamie had a fantastic weekend picking up a win in the second round of the Heronbrook Individual Winter League, fished on all pools (except for the Match Lake).
With much of the venue being frozen over, the match very nearly did not go ahead, but thankfully for Jamie, it did! Jamie drew in a sheltered area on peg 9 on the Canal pool where he fished pellet over depth to net six carp up to 7lb plus as well as good-sized F1s to 2lb to weigh in a winning weight of 82-08-00 making it two wins out of two in this event.

New Maver Squad - Maver Gold

Maver Gold is an additional squad that has recently formed from the Maver West Midlands Police team. The team is made up of both inexperienced but promising youth anglers and experienced match anglers that, together, cover a wide variety of angling disciplines including rivers, commercials and canals.
The team, although only recently formed, has already stamped its authority within the Midlands match fishing circuit finishing runner-up in the Heronbrook winter league.

Maver Bait-Tech Anglers In Fine Form

The Maver Bait-Tech squad is currently enjoying a fantastic run of form with individual anglers securing victories across a number of competitions.
In addition to Wayne Swinscoe's huge roach catch at the beginning of the month on the opening round of the Bourne Winter League, Alistair Ogilvy (who is currently 5th in the Kamasan Matchman Of The Year) is another fine example of a Bait-Tech angler in form. Alistair secured victory as part of the final winter league practice match on the Grand Union Canal at Milton Keynes, weighing 8lb plus of roach and perch caught on bloodworm and bread punch. A week later, he won the big Christmas Open at March on the old Nene with 11lb 10oz of roach on bread punch.
Colleague, Chris Jenkinson, has also secured victory in the latest round of the Fosdyke League with 20lb of roach on bread punch. The following day, he framed with 11lb of roach and rudd on the first round of the Hajac League on Ravely Drain, Ramsey.

Larford Lakes 2012 Winter League - Amended Format

Further to November's announcement of the Larford Lakes winter league series, please be advised that there have been a number of fundamental changes to the format of the competition ahead of the first match taking place on 14th January, 2012.
A minimum of 10 / maximum of 20 teams of four will compete for a winner's prize of £1,000 (subject to change) over six rounds with standings being calculated on a cumulative points system. The competition will also pay out (again subject to the event being fully supported) the runner's-up team and, subject to numbers, third place also.
As an added incentive, the event will now see the top four placed teams automatically qualify for day two of the 2012 Maver Mega "Match This" weekend extravaganza, and take part in the team event on Sunday 2nd September competing for a winning team prize of £3,000 and impressive team trophy! The competition will also pay out an additional £2,000 to second place and £1,000 to third placed teams respectively. Entry fee on the day will be £120 per team.
The event will be sponsored by the Angling Times, Daily Mirror and possibly televised by Sky Sports (and other TV channels) given the competitions tie-in with the 2012 Mega "Match This" final. Watch this space for more details.

Andy Enjoys Big Stripey Haul

Andy Kinder recently enjoyed a "red letter" specimen perch session at Cleobury Mortimer's Woodside Fishery, near Bewdley.
Although a relatively unknown venue, Woodside has seen a run of big perch landed over the last few weeks with the biggest weighing a massive 5lb 4oz - the biggest ever caught during a match and the 4th biggest perch of the year.
Andy, having never fished the venue before, relied on the knowledge of fishery management to put him on the fish and, in true "Kindy style" he did not fail to impress with thirteen fish to over 3lbs falling to his lobworm tail offering.
Andy commented "It's a lovely set-up at Woodside and I will definately be back in the summer when the weather has warmed up"!
Andy's session will feature in the February issue of Match Fishing Magazine.
