August has been a stand-out month for Maver West Midlands Police anglers Dick Tranter and Richard Alexander.
With the recent Coronavirus pandemic resulting in the cancellation of a National Championship Team event, and the postponement of a European Championship team event, individual competitions have become top of the agenda for many team members.
On August 5th, Lindholme Lakes hosted the Police National Individual Championships. Dick Tranter was fortunate enough to draw peg 56 on the favoured Benny’s Lake and made no mistakes. Fishing mostly pellets shallow whilst also maintaining an inside line, he amassed a mighty 172lb 14oz to be crowned the National Police Individual Champion 2021, winning by just a mere 4lb.
More recently, Richard Alexander has had a stellar weekend on the rivers, qualifying for two (2) different finals. Firstly, it was the Angling Trust Riverfest Qualifier on the River Soar in Leicestershire. Rich netted a total catch of 15lb 5oz for an overall second place finish and qualified for the Riverfest final.
The following day, he fished the River Trent at Burton, and with a section winning 12lb of roach, he also qualified for the Drennan Coors Trent Masters final.
We want to congratulate Dick and wish Richard all the best for the finals, from everyone at Maver!
